Southwest Airlines leads the airlines in the most canceled or delayed flights, with over 3,600 flights in and out of the United States, with an additional 6,120 flights delayed, according to the flight tracking website FlightAware.
Southwest canceled the majority of scheduled flights Monday, Dec. 26, which was significantly more than any other airline, FlightAware data shows.
The Baltimore/Washington airport is one of the airports that is most affected by the cancellations, along with Denver, Las Vegas, Chicago Midway, and Dallas Love Field.
Southwest stated that they are anticipating additional changes as the holidays continue, telling customers that they may request full refunds for their flights, or receive a flight credit.
"With consecutive days of extreme winter weather across our network behind us, continuing challenges are impacting our Customers and Employees in a significant way that is unacceptable", stated Southwest Officials continuing, "our heartfelt apologies for this are just beginning".
By Tuesday, Dec. 27, Baltimore/Washington International airport has 34% of flights canceled, with 13% of flights delayed. Incoming flights to Baltimore/Washington International airport have 35% of flights canceled and 14% delayed.
